Buy Engine Management in Australia

If you are looking to buy an aftermarket ECU in Australia, 12Volt Motorsports stocks Haltech, Link, FuelTech and Holley engine management in Melbourne and ships Australia-wide. We are not a box mover: we install these systems, build the custom harnesses for them in house, and wire the PDMs, dashes and sensors around them. That means the advice you get before ordering comes from actual installs. We supply engine management for race cars, drag cars, street performance cars, show cars, classic restorations, engine conversions and turbo builds.

What Is an Engine Management System?

An engine management system, or ECU, controls fuel delivery, ignition timing, boost, idle and every sensor input on the engine. Aftermarket ECUs come in when the factory computer is no longer suitable: modified engines, swaps, or builds that need flex fuel, boost control, data logging, CAN integration, digital dashes or PDM control. The ECU does not add power by itself, it gives the tuner the control to make power safely and consistently.

ECU Brands We Stock

Brand Range Strength
HaltechElite and Nexus ECUs, PD16 PDM, WB1/WB2 CAN widebands, keypads and IC-7 dashesStreet and race packages with strong local support and CAN accessory ecosystem

FuelTechFT450 to FT700 ECUs with integrated dash and data loggingDrag racing pedigree for high horsepower, turbo and methanol builds, ECU and dash in one unit
HolleyDominator EFI for GM and V8 platformsDeep GM integration for LS, Big Block and Small Block V8 builds

Wire-In or Plug-In?

Plug-in ECUs replace the factory computer using the factory loom, the fastest path for mostly standard cars: see the Link plug-in range for Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Mazda and Honda platforms. Wire-in ECUs pair with a custom harness and suit engine swaps, race cars and any build where the factory loom is tired or gone. We stock plug and pin sets so DIY builders can construct their own harness too.

The Complete Install

An ECU is one part of the system. We supply and wire the sensors, power distribution, CAN keypads and accessories, Tefzel wire and connectors around it, and back it with in house harness construction covering power and grounds, injector, ignition and trigger wiring, CAN bus, wideband, flex fuel and boost control circuits. One supplier, one phone call, the whole system speced to work together.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy aftermarket ECUs in Australia?

12Volt Motorsports stocks Haltech, Link, FuelTech and Holley engine management in Melbourne, ships Australia-wide, and builds the custom harnesses and installs to go with them.

Should I choose a wire-in or plug-in ECU?

Plug-in ECUs replace the factory ECU with no wiring changes and suit mostly standard looms. Wire-in ECUs pair with a custom harness and suit engine swaps, race cars and builds where the factory loom is tired or gone. We stock both across Haltech and Link.

Which ECU brand is best for my build?

It depends on the platform and goal. Link has the deepest plug-in range for Japanese platforms. Haltech has a strong CAN ecosystem with PDM, wideband, keypads and dashes. FuelTech dominates drag applications. Holley suits GM V8 builds. Call us with your combo and we will talk it through honestly.

Do you build harnesses for the ECUs you sell?

Yes. We build custom engine harnesses in house using M22759/32 Tefzel wire, DR25 and the correct plug and pin sets, and we wire full engine management, PDM and dash systems.

Do you supply the ECU plugs and pins separately?

Yes. Plug and pin sets for Haltech Elite and Nexus and FuelTech FT series are stocked, so DIY builders can construct their own harness.

Do aftermarket ECUs add horsepower?

Not by themselves. An aftermarket ECU gives the tuner better control over fuel, ignition, boost, flex fuel, idle and safety strategies. The power gain comes from the combination of engine setup, wiring quality, sensors and the tune.

What wiring parts do I need for an ECU install?

Typically Tefzel wire, Raychem DR25, the correct ECU plug and pin set, sensors and their connectors, relays or a PDM, circuit protection and proper crimp tooling. Call us with your combo and we will spec the full list.

Do you ship ECUs Australia-wide?

Yes. We ship to Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and everywhere in between, usually same or next business day.
