The Raychem SCL Equivalent Stocked in Australia
Raychem SCL is hard to get in Australia. Sumitomo W5DL is the direct equivalent: a semi rigid, dual wall, adhesive lined heatshrink with a 3:1 shrink ratio that does the same job at splices, breakouts and sealed entries. Like SCL, it can be pinched and blocked while hot to form a sealed wire breakout. If your build sheet or wiring guide calls for SCL, order the matching size in W5DL and carry on.
What is Sumitomo W5DL?
W5DL is a dual wall heatshrink. The outer wall is a tough semi rigid polyolefin. The inner wall is a meltable adhesive that flows into the voids between conductors, terminals and jacketing as the tubing shrinks, then sets into a moisture proof, strain relieved joint. The 3:1 shrink ratio lets one size cover a wide range of bundle diameters and pass over small connector bodies before shrinking down onto the cable.

Where W5DL Fits in a Harness Build
Run Tefzel wire inside the loom and DR25 as the outer sleeve. Use W5DL at every splice, sealed connector exit and branch transition. Use Raychem ATUM where a 4:1 ratio is needed to pass over a large connector body, and Raychem moulded boots where a shaped, lipped transition is required at a connector backshell.

DR25 is non adhesive outer sleeving for the whole harness. W5DL is adhesive lined and used only at specific points: splices, connector exits and branch transitions where sealing and strain relief are needed. Do not sleeve a whole loom in adhesive lined product, it becomes stiff and unrepairable.
