Raychem DR25 Australia

Buy Raychem DR25 Heatshrink in Australia

If you are looking to buy genuine Raychem DR25 heatshrink in Australia, 12Volt Motorsports stocks DR25 by the metre in all common motorsport wiring sizes. We are based in Altona Meadows in Melbourne's western suburbs and ship Australia-wide. Pricing starts from $8.50 per metre.

Raychem DR25 is commonly used with Tefzel wire, Deutsch connectors, Sumitomo W5DL adhesive heatshrink, Raychem ATUM adhesive heatshrink and Raychem moulded boots when building professional motorsport wiring harnesses.

What is Raychem DR25?

Raychem DR25 is a specialist heatshrink tubing used to sleeve and protect motorsport wiring harnesses. It is rated to 150 degrees C, flame retardant and resistant to fuel, oil, hydraulic fluid and most chemicals found in an engine bay. DR25 has a 2:1 shrink ratio, meaning it shrinks to approximately half its original diameter when heat is applied.

DR25 begins shrinking at around 150 degrees C and reaches full recovery at approximately 175 degrees C. A proper heat gun should be used for the cleanest and most even result, especially on larger harness sections.

DR25 is the standard choice for sleeving custom motorsport wiring harnesses. It is used by professional race teams, harness builders and serious enthusiasts who want a harness that will hold up in a harsh environment over the long term.

What Sizes Does 12Volt Motorsports Stock?

We stock Raychem DR25 in the following sizes. All sizes are sold by the metre with no minimum order.

DR25 Size Supplied Diameter Recovered Diameter Common Use
1/8 inch 3.2 mm 1.6 mm Small branch runs and individual wire protection
3/16 inch 4.8 mm 2.4 mm Small sub-harness runs of 2 to 4 wires
1/4 inch 6.4 mm 3.2 mm ECU harness branch runs and smaller wiring groups
3/8 inch 9.5 mm 4.8 mm Medium harness runs of 6 to 10 wires depending on gauge
1/2 inch 12.7 mm 6.4 mm Larger harness runs and main trunk sections on smaller harnesses
3/4 inch 19.0 mm 9.5 mm Main trunk sections on larger harnesses
1 inch 25.4 mm 12.7 mm Large main trunk sections on full vehicle harnesses

How Do I Choose the Right DR25 Size?

Measure the outside diameter of your wire bundle before sleeving. Choose the smallest DR25 size that will fit over the bundle without forcing it. DR25 needs to go on easily before heat is applied. If you have to force it on, it is too small and the recovery will be poor.

As a general guide, 1/4 inch suits most ECU branch runs using Tefzel wire. 3/8 inch suits medium sub-harness runs. 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch suit main trunk sections depending on wire count and gauge.

A common mistake is choosing DR25 based only on the final recovered size. You also need to make sure the unrecovered size can physically slide over the wire bundle, branch points and any small changes in harness diameter.

What Should I Use With Raychem DR25?

DR25 is normally used as the outer harness sleeving on motorsport wiring looms. For a complete professional harness, it is commonly paired with Tefzel wire, Deutsch connectors, Sumitomo W5DL adhesive heatshrink, Raychem ATUM adhesive heatshrink and Raychem moulded boots.

Tefzel wire is used for the actual wiring conductors. DR25 protects the harness bundle from heat, abrasion, oils, fuels and harsh engine bay conditions. Deutsch connectors are commonly used at sensors, actuators and branch points. Sumitomo W5DL, ATUM or moulded boots can be used at harness exits and connector transitions where sealing and strain relief are required.

Raychem DR25 as Part of a Complete Harness System

Raychem DR25 is normally used as the outer sleeve on the harness. For a complete motorsport harness system, it is commonly paired with M22759/32 Tefzel wire, Raychem moulded boots, S1125 adhesive, Raychem SCL, Raychem ATUM or Sumitomo W5DL adhesive heatshrink.

DR25 protects the harness bundle. Moulded boots support branch transitions and connector exits. Adhesive-lined heatshrink is used for sealing, strain relief and finishing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy Raychem DR25 in Australia?

12Volt Motorsports stocks genuine Raychem DR25 heatshrink in Australia by the metre in all common motorsport sizes. We are based in Melbourne and ship Australia-wide to all states and territories.

What is the difference between Raychem DR25 and normal heatshrink?

Standard heatshrink is not rated for the heat, fuel and chemical exposure found in a motorsport environment. Raychem DR25 is designed for harsh environments and is rated to 150 degrees C. It is significantly tougher, more flexible and more chemical resistant than standard heatshrink tubing.

What is the difference between DR25, W5DL and ATUM?

DR25 is a non-adhesive heatshrink used for harness sleeving. Sumitomo W5DL and Raychem ATUM are adhesive-lined heatshrink products used at connector exits, branch splits and splice points where sealing, strain relief or a finished transition is needed.

Do I need special tools to shrink DR25?

A heat gun is the best tool for shrinking DR25. A lighter can be used in a pinch, but a heat gun gives a much cleaner and more even result, especially on larger sizes. DR25 reaches full recovery at approximately 175 degrees C.

Do you ship Raychem DR25 Australia-wide?

Yes. We ship to Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and everywhere in between.

Can I buy DR25 by the metre?

Yes. We sell Raychem DR25 by the metre with no minimum order so you can buy exactly what you need for your project.

What size Raychem DR25 should I use for ECU wiring?

For most ECU harness branch runs, 1/4 inch DR25 is a common starting point. Smaller branches may use 1/8 inch or 3/16 inch, while larger grouped sections may need 3/8 inch, 1/2 inch or larger. The correct size depends on the wire count, wire gauge and finished bundle diameter.

Is Raychem DR25 suitable for engine bay wiring?

Yes. Raychem DR25 is commonly used for engine bay wiring because it is designed for harsh environments and offers strong resistance to heat, abrasion, fuel, oil and other automotive fluids.

Is Raychem DR25 part of a complete harness system?

Yes. Raychem DR25 is commonly used with M22759/32 Tefzel wire, Raychem moulded boots, S1125 adhesive, Raychem SCL, Raychem ATUM and adhesive heatshrink products to create a complete motorsport harness protection system.
