What are Raychem System 25 Boots?
System 25 boots are moulded from a semi rigid modified elastomer in the same family as DR25. They are rated from -75 degrees C to 150 degrees C, flame retardant, and resistant to high temperature fluids including fuel, oil and hydraulic fluid. Fitted over a connector backshell and recovered with a heat gun, a boot gives the harness a sealed, supported, factory grade exit that loose heatshrink cannot match.

Straight or 90 Degree?
Use a straight 202K boot where the cable exits in line with the connector. Use a 90 degree 222K boot where the loom needs to turn immediately behind the connector, which keeps tight engine bay installations tidy and takes bending strain off the wire bundle.
Fitting Raychem Boots Properly
Slide the boot on before terminating the connector. Recover it with a temperature controlled heat gun, then bond the cable end to the DR25 sleeve with the matching System 25 adhesive for a fully sealed joint. Boots are commonly fitted to Souriau 8STA and Deutsch Autosport circular connectors, with Sumitomo W5DL handling the splices and smaller transitions further down the loom.
