Buy M27500 Shielded Tefzel Cable in Australia

12Volt Motorsports stocks genuine M27500 shielded Tefzel cable in Australia, sold by the metre in 1 to 6 core and 20 or 22 AWG. M27500 is the MIL-DTL-27500 specification: M22759/32 style Tefzel conductors inside a tinned copper braid shield with a Tefzel outer jacket, rated 600 volts and 150 degrees C. It is the cable that keeps crank triggers, knock sensors and CAN signals clean in an engine bay full of electrical noise. Melbourne stock, shipped Australia-wide.

Which Shielded Cable Do I Need?

Use 2 core for passive sensors that make their own signal, such as VR crank and cam triggers and knock sensors. Use 3 core for active sensors that need power, signal and ground in one shielded run, such as Hall effect crank angle and digital speed sensors. Click a part number to shop it.

Terminating the Shield Properly

Ground the braid at one end only, normally the ECU end, so the shield drains noise without creating a ground loop. Route shielded runs away from ignition leads, coils and alternator wiring where possible, and follow your ECU manufacturer's wiring requirements for trigger circuits. If you are running our shielded cable with an aftermarket ECU we stock, call us and we will confirm the termination method for your exact ECU.

Part of the Complete Harness System

M27500 shielded cable runs alongside M22759/32 Tefzel wire inside Raychem DR25 sleeving, sealed with Sumitomo W5DL at splices and terminated into Deutsch, Amphenol and Souriau connectors. It is the same cable we run for triggers and CAN in our own custom harness builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I buy M27500 shielded Tefzel cable in Australia?

12Volt Motorsports stocks genuine M27500 shielded Tefzel cable in Australia in 1 to 6 core, 20 and 22 AWG, sold by the metre. Melbourne stock, shipped Australia-wide.

What is M27500 shielded cable?

M27500 is the MIL-DTL-27500 specification for shielded cable. Each cable pairs M22759/32 style Tefzel conductors with a tinned copper braid shield and a Tefzel outer jacket, rated 600 volts and 150 degrees C. The braid stops electromagnetic interference reaching low level signals.

Which circuits need shielded cable?

Noise sensitive signals routed near ignition, alternator or high current wiring: crank and cam triggers, knock sensors, wheel speed sensors, ABS signals, EGT amplifiers and CAN runs in noisy environments.

Should I use 2 core or 3 core shielded cable?

Use 2 core for passive sensors that generate their own signal, such as VR crank and cam triggers and knock sensors. Use 3 core for active sensors that need a supply voltage, signal and ground in one run, such as Hall effect crank angle and digital speed sensors.

How do I terminate the shield?

Terminate the shield at one end only, normally the ECU end, to avoid ground loops. Follow your ECU manufacturer's wiring requirements. Never leave the braid floating unterminated at both ends on a critical trigger circuit.

Is M27500 the shielded version of Spec 55?

Effectively yes. TE Raychem's equivalent shielded product family carries the Spec 55 name, and M27500 with M22759/32 conductors is the mil spec designation. If your build sheet calls for Spec 55 shielded cable, M27500 is the cable.

Do you ship shielded Tefzel cable Australia-wide?

Yes. We ship to Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin and everywhere in between, sold by the metre with no minimum order.
