Open Barrel Wire Splice - Large

Genuine TE Connectivity (AMP) AMPLIVAR open barrel splice, Large size, part number 62310-2. The power splice: main feeds, ground buses and multi-branch power splits in the heavy end of the harness, crimped concentric twist style. The open barrel crimps around the stripped conductors the same way a connector terminal does, giving a compact, inspectable, vibration proof join.

Sizing by CMA: add up the circular mil area of every wire entering the splice and pick the splice whose CMA range covers the total. This Large covers 7,000 to 13,000 CMA, a 12 AWG main feed splitting into multiple 16 AWG branches, or a ground bus gathering four or more mid gauge wires.

Common Tefzel wire CMA values: 22 AWG = 754, 20 AWG = 1,216, 18 AWG = 1,900, 16 AWG = 2,426, 14 AWG = 3,830, 12 AWG = 5,900.
